The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.
Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education— Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
I am pleased to extend a warm invitation to you and your institution to participate in the Eureka International Science and Environment Olympiad 2024, our upcoming series of competitions, aimed at nurturing a spirit of scientific inquiry and environmental stewardship. Scheduled for grades four to twelve, these competitions offer a platform for students to showcase their talents and contribute to the advancement of science and environmental awareness. Friends, the present state of the environment is alarmingly deteriorating and this plummet cannot be ignored. Every act or step we take towards progress is inadvertently a fall towards the destruction of the planet. Does it mean that we stop progressing and refrain from scientific advancement? I believe not. Cautiousness is the answer, awareness is the answer and the right temperament and approach are the answers to all those causes that are gnawing away the years off the planet's existence.
Yes, we need awareness but we also desperately need to contribute to the restoration of our planet with an immediate effect, through acts which do not remain confined within the boundaries of a few spontaneous and short-lived verbal commitments and resolutions. We need to remind ourselves that the answers lie with us. Science motivates and assists in shaping the intellectual and practical developments of young minds and we aim to emphasize on the multifaceted expanse of Science and the Environment so that the students of these two subjects are encouraged to offer their undeterred services to the global society.
Imparting interest in science and environment and educating this young and next promising generation will surely contribute to a much-required global perspective and will enable the students to apply scientific principles to address environmental challenges
Our endeavours at EISEO 2024 are not to organise a random series of competitions rather we desire to initiate a thematic campaign for all to appreciate the gift of the intellect, to sensitize not only the students but ourselves too as we indulge in preparing them for this event, and to encourage them to believe that yes they can make a difference, yes together we can and that every little step would be a significant component of the giant leap we envision. I encourage you to join us in this endeavour from the 19th to the 22nd of October 2024, as together we can inspire the next generation of scientists and environmental campaigners. All Principals are cordially invited as esteemed Guests of Honour. As a gesture of appreciation for graciously gracing the event with their benevolent presence it would be an honour and a privilege for us to extend complimentary accommodation to Principals of all participating schools.
Let us together collaborate to create an enriching and impactful experience for our students.
Looking forward to your enthusiastic participation!
The purpose of today’s school education should be to develop and release capacities latent in the child, develop analytical abilities, confidence in oneself, will power and goal-setting competencies, and instill the vision that will enable a person to become a self-motivated agent of social change. Education needs an expanded definition that frees it from today’s largely economic context and acknowledges its role in transforming both individual lives and entire society. A modern school also needs to concern itself with the affairs of the age in which we live.
CMS education focuses around the belief that a 21st century school should act as a lighthouse of society, providing meaningful education, spiritual direction, guidance and leadership to not only its students but also to the parents and society at large.
Over the last 64 years, CMS has successfully impacted the lives of scores of thousands of students that pass out from the school every year. The only school recipient ever of the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education (in 2002), CMS is also the only school to regularly organize 28 international events, with a view to create a culture of peaceful coexistence and placing importance on person to person interactions.
The aim of EUREKA is to awaken the world's children about the changing environment due to man's unthoughtful activities. Besides experiencing the pleasure of competitions they will get an opportunity to talk to each other as intimate friends without the thought of being the citizens of different countries. Their cultural assimilation with each other will be another pleasant experience for them.
Eureka International 2024 will offer yet another pleasant opportunity to Primary and Junior level students of the world to compete which each other as they do with students of their respective countries.
It is certainly a most commendable effort of Anand Nagar Campus for which the Principal and teachers deserve wide acclaim. We also welcome all the delegates of EUREKA-2024.
“Teaching is more than imparting knowledge, it is inspiring change. Learning is more than absorbing facts, it is acquiring understanding.”— William Arthur Ward
Childhood is the world of miracles or of magic: it is as if creation rose luminously out of the night, all new and astonishing. Childhood is over the moment things are no longer astonishing. When the world gives you a feeling of "déjà vu," when you are used to existence, you become an adult.
Eureka aims to nurture the longing for discovery and innovation in young children. This is done through various competitions such as nature photography and radio playwriting which would be new experiences for most children of Primary and Junior grades. Often children do not even know what latent talents they have until they get an opportunity to discover them through music, dance and drama. Once they start off, the sky is the limit for them to reach.
At the same time children are encouraged to become more aware of important contemporary issues such as environmental protection and climate change. After all, these are issues that they will have to face and tackle in their life. I believe that the Eureka experience is bound to enhance their self-esteem and further develop their personality.
I extend my heartiest congratulations to Ms. Reena Soti, Principal of CMS Anand Nagar and her dedicated staff for organizing this most interesting event.
Science and environment are two sides of the same coin. The former is a tool to understand the latter, and the latter is the reason for the former’s existence.
Environment is not just a collection of natural resources; it is a living, breathing entity that sustains all life on Earth. As Chief Seattle once said, “The Earth does not belong to Man; Man belongs to the Earth...” . We must treat it with respect and care. It is our responsibility to protect it and preserve it for future generations.
As we continue to make scientific advancements, we must also be mindful of their impact on the environment. Since, science and environment are intertwined, we must work to protect both. It should be our utmost priority to find a balance between progress and preservation.
The Eureka International, to be organized from 19 to 22 October 2024, is an initiative by City Montessori School, Anand Nagar Campus to promote environmental awareness among the young and curious minds while fostering the spirit of scientific inquiry to ensure that we nurture future leaders who are not only scientifically adept but also environmentally conscious.
As we brace ourselves to witness this event that highlights the importance of science and its connection to our environment, I would like to take a moment to express my gratitude to our Founder Manager, Dr Jagdish Gandhi and Founder Director, Dr Bharti Gandhi for their vision and commitment to provide a platform for the students to showcase their talents.
The unwavering support of our President and Managing Director, Dr Geeta Gandhi Kingdon has always instilled within us a belief that the more clearly we focus our attention on the wonders and the beauties of the earth, the more we get drawn into a web of life of which we are only a part.
My hearties congratulations to the inspirational Principal, Anand Nagar Campus, City Montessori School, Ms Reena Soti for always leading her staff with her passion for learning and growth. I would also like to take this opportunity to appreciate the tireless effort of the staff to make this event a success.
Encapsulating my message, I wish to add that we are fortunate to be a part of an institution that values education, growth, and development. The management's vision, staff's dedication, and students' talents have come together to create an atmosphere that reflects the true spirit of our institution. We are proud of what we have achieved, but we also acknowledge that there is always room for improvement. We pledge to continue working hard and striving for excellence in all our endeavours.
