CMS: Cambridge School

CMS Aliganj Campus I, CMS Golf City Campus, CMS Gomti Nagar Extension Campus, CMS Gomti Nagar Campus I and CMS Rajajipuram Campus I are now affiliated with Cambridge International Education, which is part of the University of Cambridge. The IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) qualification is recognized as equivalent to Class 10, and the Advanced Level (A-Level) qualification is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) as equivalent to any higher secondary qualifications of Boards in India.

The CMS Cambridge Experience

CMS Cambridge Campuses are open for students from Class I upwards, with the Gomti Nagar Extn Campus offering both IGCSEs and A Levels (i.e. Classes 1 to 12), with subject choices including English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Business Studies, Economics, History, Geography, Computer Science, Design & Technology, Hindi, German, and French.

The IGCSE at CMS Cambridge offers a flexible and stimulating curriculum and helps improve performance of learners by developing the skills of critical thinking, collaboration, enquiry and problem solving.

To develop these skills, our Cambridge teachers use active-learning and metacognitive approaches with plenty of experiential learning projects and hands-on learning that encourages students’ curiosity and self-expression.


About the Cambridge Board

Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) is part of the University of Cambridge, one of the world’s top universities trusted for excellence in education. It is the world’s largest provider of international qualifications for students aged between 5-19 years. Its qualifications are recognized and accepted by universities, educators and employers across the globe.

The IGCSE qualification (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) is recognised by the Council of Boards of School Education (COBSE) of India, and is equivalent to any Class X Board. The A- Level qualification is recognized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) as equivalent to any Indian Board’s Class XII qualifications.

Ms. Manjit Batra joined City Montessori School 47 years ago and has led several CMS campuses. A Principal for 45 years, Ms. Batra has spearheaded the growth of CMS campuses across Lucknow. As Principal, Ms Batra has nurtured three fledgling CMS campuses, scaled them up, and orchestrated their affiliation with the CISCE and CAIE (Cambridge) exam boards. In 2004, Ms Batra was recognized for her distinguished services and awarded by then the President of India, Late Shri A.P.J Abdul Kalam. She was awarded the honorific "Jewel of the Institution" for her dedicated service. She was also conferred the Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Lifetime Achievement Award in2023 by the Association of Schools for the ISC (ASISC) Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand Region in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field of education.

An accomplished educator with more than 22 years of experience, Ms. Pandey has been Principal of CMS Anand Nagar and Mahanagar campuses, before being promoted as Senior Principal of CMS Rajajipuram Campus I. Here she has brought her reformist zeal to raise standards across the board, ensuring that children learn experientially with understanding. She was felicitated by the DM Lucknow for the stupendous Board result. She was honoured along with three other prestigious schools of Lucknow for their outstanding contribution in educational field. Ms. Pandey and her team have guided students to emerge as national toppers in the ISC and ICSE, who also represent the school at National and International Olympiads. Her campus is rated as one of the very best schools in Lucknow.

An accomplished educator with more than 20 years experience, Ms. Shivani Singh has been in leadership positions at Gomti Nagar I, Aliganj Campus II and now in Aliganj Campus I. She is an innovator, with an eye for detail, which is reflected in the high standards of education she organises. She and the staff of Aliganj campus have wholeheartedly embraced the CMS Vision 2025, and have continuously invested in their professional development, taking a very child focused approach. Along with her Senior Principal and staff, Ms. Singh has guided the ICSE and ISC students to garner spectacular Board results, admission to the top universities abroad and numerous selections in All India Civil Services, IIT, NEET etc. Ms. Shivani Singh received the 'Hundred Best Principals' award, and was also honoured with the 'Women Leadership Achievement Award' in 2023.

Appropriate and relevant internationally, Cambridge Lower Secondary has been designed to be culturally sensitive. It includes top-quality teaching and assessment resources appropriate for teaching and learning in local and international schools.

Cambridge Lower Secondary is typically for learners aged 11 to 14 years. It gives schools a flexible framework for developing skills and understanding in English as a first or second language, mathematics, science, Cambridge Global Perspectives and ICT Starters.

Cambridge Lower Secondary starts learners on an educational journey for their first years of secondary education, increasing their knowledge and skills at each stage. It provides a natural progression for children from primary education and prepares them for post-14 education programmes that lead to formal qualifications.

A number of progress checks are built into the Cambridge Lower Secondary programme, which enable teachers to monitor your child's development. The emphasis of tests is on showing where your child is on their own learning journey, rather than simply getting right or wrong answers.

Cambridge Checkpoint tests can be taken in the final year of Cambridge Lower Secondary. These tests are available in English, English as a Second Language, Mathematics and Science, and are marked in Cambridge, England.

On completion of Cambridge Checkpoint, your child will receive a statement of achievement and detailed feedback on their strengths and weaknesses. This helps your school to advise on different progression routes after age 14 and choose the one that will be most suitable for your child.

Cambridge Upper Secondary is typically for learners aged 14 to 16 years. The Cambridge IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) curriculum offers a variety of routes for learners with a wide range of abilities.

Schools build a curriculum around their specific needs. Starting from a foundation of core subjects, it is easy to add breadth and cross-curricular perspectives. Encouraging learners to engage with a variety of subjects, and make connections between them, is fundamental to our approach. Cambridge IGCSE offers a flexible curriculum, supported by excellent resources and training.

For learners, Cambridge IGCSE helps improve performance by developing skills in creative thinking, enquiry and problem solving. It is the perfect springboard to advanced study.

Assessments

Cambridge IGCSE assessment takes place at the end of the course and can include written, oral, coursework and practical assessment. This broadens opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning. In many subjects there is a choice between core and extended curricula, making Cambridge IGCSE suitable for a wide range of abilities.

Grades are benchmarked using eight internationally recognised grades, A* to G, which have clear guidelines to explain the standard of achievement for each grade.

Cambridge Advanced is for students aged 16 to 19 years.
Cambridge International AS & A Levels

Cambridge International A Level is typically a two-year course, and Cambridge International AS Level is typically one year. Some subjects can be started as a Cambridge International AS Level and extended to a Cambridge International A Level.

A LEVEL RESULTS

Exceptional academic excellence is evident with 13 A* and 12 A grades achieved by our students. Mahi Agarwal and Yahya Ashraf secured 4 A*s and 1 A grade, Sanskriti Saigal attained 4 A*s, Vangmay Sachan earned 3 A* and 1 A, and Ojas Srivastava received 1 A* and 4 A grades, marking the highest grades in the school.

IGCSE RESULTS

In the IGCSE March 2023 exams, our students excelled with 23 A* and 40 A grades, showcasing their hard work and dedication. Tavish Jaiswal and Aaditya Srivastava led with 5 A* and 1 A grade, followed by Sai Upadhyay with 5 A* and 3 A grades, and Tejas Srivastava with 5 A* and 2 A grades.

CHECKPOINT RESULTS

CMS achieved outstanding Checkpoint results with averages surpassing the international average in English, Maths, and Science. Anantya Srivastava excelled with a perfect score of 50/50 in the writing section and overall aggregate in English. In Mathematics, Arish Haider, Rithik Das, and Sharanya Agarwal achieved perfection in the number section. For Science, Arish Haider and Anusha Singh secured perfect scores in Biology, Chemistry, and Earth and Space sections. The Primary English average of 41 outperformed the international average of 33.
