Aarna Chopra, a Class XII student of CMS Mahanagar Campus brought glory to Lucknow by completing her internship at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) — home of Large Hadron Collider, situated in Geneva, Switzerland with her outstanding genius and scientific acumen. Aarna was one of the 30 budding scientists were selected for the CERN-Solvay Internship Programme by the Scientific Research Centre from all over the world. Significantly, Aarna was also the only candidate from India. Aarna went on a fully funded scholarship for this 15-day programme that included travel expenses, board and lodging at the Centre. In an informal conversation, Aarna said that it was like a science fiction novel coming true and seeing the huge CERN laboratory was a fantastic experience where all modern facilities for scientific and nuclear research were available.
Her 15-day Internship was on Medical Application with research on the “Role of Electron Beams in Cancer Research.” During this programme, she got to interact with some of the top scientists of the world and interact with researchers in nuclear medicine.
