Anna Kazejak is a film director and screenwriter. Prior to attending at the National Film
School in Lodz in 2001, she spent many years studying film theory. Her first documentary
student film, Pulse, garnered attention from film festivals throughout the world. Her next
short, You Are There, garnered awards for Kazejak (Main Prize for Best Short Film –
FilmFestival Cottbus, Festival of East European Cinema, 2004; Best Short Film – „Sisily”
Film Festival, Tbilisi, 2005; Main Prize, CEI Section – Maremetraggio Film Festival, Triest
2005.) In 2005, Kazejak and two of her friends from school decided to produce a three-part film dealing with
the economic migrations of young Poles. This film was the much celebrated, Ode To Joy. Anna Kazejak has
several films to her credit of which many have been awarded along with 2003 Pulse (Puls), 9 min.,
documentary which received Jury Special Mention – 29.Valencia Cinema Jove Film Festival 2014, Jury
Mention - 8. Festiwal Filmów Polskich ‚Wisła’, Moskwa 2015,Best Actress – for Eliza Rycembel - 8.
GAFFA International Film Festival, Vienna 2014 and Best Supporting Actor – for Dawid Ogrodnik - 39.
Polish Gdynia Film Festival 2014. What Kazejak looks for in cinema are contemporary subjects that
describe the processes occurring in modern societies. She is looking for projects that go beyond the local
problems with a universal message.
Ms Bobby Sarma Baruah was born on 13 June 1971. She completed her Masters from
Gauwahati University and has a degree in BEd. Besides, she has a Postgraduate Diploma in
Mass Communication And Journalism from Guwahati University, one and half years
Diploma course in Total Film Making from Photography Institute of Assam and at present she
is pursuing PhD in Mass communication and Journalism from Guwahati University.
Prominent woman filmmaker Bobby Sarma Baruah, who made a cracking directorial debut
with the incredibly thought-provoking ‘Adomya’ in 2014, was invited to represent the country as a Jury
member at the 14th Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF), held in Dhaka from 14 to 22 January 2016.
Interestingly, Sarma Baruah’s ‘Adomya’ was adjudged the Best Film in the same section in 2014. ‘ In 2015
she co –produced and directed feature film “SONAR BORAN PAKHI”, besides she has several other films
and documentaries to her credit. More recently, Sarma Baruah was listed amongst the top ten renowned
contemporary female directors from South Asia, who has exerted quite an influence in the sub-continent in
2015 in a Facebook page called ‘Asian Cinema’. The director’s persistence of vision paid off with
‘Adomya’, which had whipped up quite a storm on the festival circuit. Besides carrying the message of
awareness and change, the film was a breath of fresh air for many moviegoers and critics. Everyone has
acknowledged Sarma Baruah’s special gift for directing, and most praise her without reserve. Bobby Sarma
Baruah has also been looking after the cultural and creative aspects of BB Entertainment and BB Creation,
an organisation shaped by her in association with her husband, cultural activist Basanta Kumar Barua, that
has been successfully organizing the Bhaona and ‘Sampurna Raas Leela’ since the last seven years in
Guwahati and other parts of the State. Bobby Sarma Barua has made a number of documentaries, telefilms
for Guwahati Doordarshan. She has also directed several episodes, quickies and documentaries for various
departments of the state Govt.
